Ubuntu: Installing PTXdist
This blog describes the procedure for installing PTXdist on Ubuntu host.
Download the latest PTXdist source code from Pengutronix – PTXdist site. Once you have download the source code, you can extract the source code and attempt a build as follows:
tar -xvjf ptxdist-2014.07.0.tar.bz2 cd ptxdist-2014.07.0/ ./configure
It is likely that a few packages are not installed and you will have to install the same. Here are a few packages that I had to install on my system. You need not worry about the list of missing packages. The ./configure command will report the missing packages.
sudo apt-get install gawk sudo apt-get install flex sudo apt-get install bison sudo apt-get install texinfo
Once you have installed the required packages, try to execute ./configure again.
If successful, you will see the following message towards the end of the command execution.
configure: creating ./config.status config.status: creating Makefile
ptxdist version 2014.07.0 configured. Using '/usr/local' for installation prefix.

Once the ./configure command is successful, execute the ‘make’ and ‘sudo make install’ commands to build and install the ‘ptxdist’ utility.
make sudo make install
You have successfully install ‘ptxdist’ utility on your system.
